The wondrous beauty of Western Ghats reaches its peak during 3 months of monsoon season in India. I live in Pune which is surrounded by lush green hills of Western Ghats of Maharashtra. And if you drive at least for an hour in any direction, you'll be greeted by mesmerizing natural beauty. Green hills, huge lakes, amazing waterfalls takes one away from city's hustle and bustle and relaxes body and mind.
So, one weekend we took our car to drive and one night stay to nearby Lavasa hill city and enjoy the weather en-route. As expected we were greeted by overcast sky, incessant rains and amazing weather. Cars windows wound down, the drive through long winding roads in the hills was a refreshing experience.

The hill city itself is quite beautiful. The peace and quite that is experienced in that place is unmatched when compared with other near by hill stations which seem to over crowded every time. The whole city has been a recent construction and is established around a huge lake. Residential complexes, eating joints, a club and couple of hotels comprise the city. And there are individual bungalows and flat complexes constructed on the surrounding hills.
